MUNCHY'S: FROM GOOD TO GREAT
ImageOne of our cherished clients, Munchy's needed an inspirational video to motivate their personnel at an upcoming sales conference. Having worked with us on a number of other projects, they were confident we could deliver.

The concept of the video was to document Munchy's journey from their humble beginnings as a small-time biscuit makers, to their current position as an international company manufacturing and distributing dozens of biscuit, wafer, and confectionery products for the regional market. However, this journey would be set against a backdrop of world history, with footage of important world events helping the audience place Munchy's steady rise in accurate context. This would make the history of one of Malaysia's true success stories even more remarkable, considering Munchy's has weathered storms as intense as the 1998 Asian economic crisis. The video was to be titled "Munchy's: From Good to Great", reflecting their aim to grow even further in the next chapter of their history.

It quickly became apparent that the biggest challenge for us would be to acquire footage of landmark historical events, such as the fall of the Berlin wall, the aforementioned economic downturn, sporting events, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, etc. We made appointments and scoured through RTM's huge video library, sifted through online news sites, and made enquiries at various wire services. Even YouTube was not spared. When the necessary footage was obtained, we would splice them together with footage and images of Munchy's over their long history. But before that could be done, we needed an inspiring soundtrack. Something that would raise chins and puff chests. Our creative director's large music collection was raided, but to no avail. It was only after a few days that we chanced upon Shanon Noll's Shine, the uplifting first single from the Australian Idol runner-up. It was unanimously declared to be perfect for the video.

Soon, a first draft was presented to Munchy's marketing team, quickly approved with minor changes, and the final version delivered. They must have been happy with our work, as we promptly received invitations to the opening ceremony and screening of the video during the sales conference. We even received complimentary Munchy's coffee mugs!
