Top Chinese Chef

Anything to do with food is by default Malaysian in spirit. So it matters little that our new 13-episode TV programme is in Mandarin, for we are certain beyond a doubt that locals, regardless of race, will be able to relate.

ImageImageTop Chinese Chef is the title of the latest TV programme currently in production here at OrangTV, and it features one Chinese chef each episode, documenting his slow climb up the culinary ladder - a climb that often begins during childhood, and where his journey has led him to today. To make the programme a sure-fire hit, our director asked each chef to cook up their most famous dishes. Each episode of the programme is peppered with shots of the most luxurious Chinese dishes imaginable - steaming, gleaming, dripping, in full technicolor. Fortunately, Chinese hospitality is not lacking, and cast and crew are not left yearning for the unattainable.

ImageImageImageAfter weeks of hopping from one restaurant to another, interviewing each of the 13 selected chefs and their respective kitchen staff, and facing a seemingly endless deluge of Chinese delicacies, our producers - of course with nary a complain - have finally completed recording, with expanded waistlines to boot.

With the project in post-production phase, and the pilot episode already on its way to RTM for approval, the only problem is that our editors are fast exhausting our supply of paper napkins.
