SUNWAY UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CORPORATE VIDEO

On location shooting at Sunway University College (SyUC) for their new corporate video meant our producers had to spend days on end trying to blend in with the distinctly more hip college crowd. We'd like to think we suceeded at blending in, but what is certain is that we succeeded in producing one heckuva video.

Sunway University College (SyUC) is a tertiary education institution that is particularly proud of its recently acquired university status. It sets SyUC apart from other colleges in terms of the quality of education on offer, and the recognition its degrees and certificates receive. And so it was decided that its marketing efforts must also be distinct, and what better way than a corporate video?!

SyUC wanted only the best. "The video must be grand. It must evoke a 'wow' response from the audience," they said. So our executive producer Bob Lay went out and kicked our top-notch production team into gear. With Hong Kong director Ken Lai and his assistant Brian Lee on board, together with local cameraman Eddy, the production team is one that has a reputation for professionalism and perfection. Multiple takes became the order of the day, for each of the six days of shooting.

Concept and script for the video were developed in-house at R&J Media Resources, and it was decided by our resident writers that the script needed to appeal first and foremost to prospective students, but also needed to be assuring to parents who are looking for a reliable education for their children. Prior to production, we literally took months to ensure the script was spot on, down to every last word.

By mixing firm expositions of the prospects and opportunities available to students at SyUC, and visuals of a vibrant and exciting college life, we are certain that the video will meet the expectations of the client.

The script was executed by the production crew over six days of on-location shooting at SyUC and its neighbouring hostel facilities. Acting talents were sourced from among SyUC's many students through an audition process. Eventually, even lecturers and students passing by the shoot were roped in to play extras!

With shooting wrapped up, the project is now in its post-production phase, which will include video editing, graphics and animation, as well as voiceover, music and dubbing. It is slated to be delivered to the client within the next month. And our producers can now return to their fuddy-duddy ways...
